MILITARY REFORMS (WEAPONS) : Tipu Sultan
1st century BCE king belonging to the Paramara dynasty of Ujjain; Had the 9 gems who were exponents in music, art, language including Kalidas and most importantly welcomed ancient scientists and astrologists into his court including Varahamihira, Vetalabhadra, Shanku, Dhavantari, Shapanak
He revolutionised arms in India and was the first modern king in the world to use rockets for military purposes.
MILITARY STRENGTH (EXPEDITIONS) : Rajaraja Chola
He was one of the first kings of India to lead naval expeditions to lands overseas and had the largest Indian trade system outside India till Indonesia.
RELIGION (REFORMS) : Ashoka
Though he held almost the largest empire in Indian history, seeing the violence in the war he waged against Kalinga, he embraced Buddhism and was the major cause behind the spread of Buddhism in the Subcontinent
RELIGION (CONVENTIONAL) : Shivaji
Shivaji tried to bring back the fading Indian Hindu culture with the advent of Muslim conquerors and promoted Sanskrit and Marathi and established the Maratha empire and protected Indians
RELIGION (TOLERANCE) : Akbar
Unlike others of the Mughal dynasty to which Akbar also belonged, he saw all religions as equals and supported Hindus too and respected their traditions. He believed in religious tolerance and founded a new religion, Din - i - Illahi.
PATRON OF ARCHITECTURE : Shah Jahan
Shah Jahan during his regime had many architectural marvels built as he was a lover of Persian style of art. This buildings include the famous Mausoleum, Taj Mahal, and others like Jami Masjiid, Red Fort, Moti Mosque, Shah Jahan Mosque, Shalimar Gardens, Jahangir Mausoleum and many more.
PATRON OF LANGUAGE : Krishnadeva Raya
He encouraged architecture and had many monuments built in Hampi. He was a staunch Vaishnavite King and in his court called Bhuvana Vijaya were eight poets, 'Ashtadiggajas' who excelled in Sanskrit, Telugu, and Kannada literature and they were : Tenali Raman (the most famous as comic kids character), Allasani Peddana, Madayya gari Mallana, Ayyalaraju Ramabhadra, Pingali Surana, Bhattu Murti, Nandi Timmana, and Dhurjati.
CHANGED COINAGE : Vima Kadphises
He was a Kushana king and introduced the first gold coins in India.
ADMINISTRATION : Chandra Gupta I (Gupta king)
He was the founder of the Gupta empire and built a great hierarchy and used marriage alliances as a great tool for annexing kingdoms.
TAUGHT SELF-RESPECT : Porus / Purushottama
Said to be the descendant of the Paurava clan and the king of Kekeya kingdom, Porus (sometimes called Purushottama by some Indians) defended India from Alexander the Great but lost. He however won back the kingdom when Alexander offered a wish and Porus answered, "Treat me as it befits a king!"
